The nation has been waiting for him for long now. After Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, and after Priyanka Gandhi made clear of her political non-ambitions, all eyes turned to Rahul Gandhi. After the dismal performance in 1999 general elections, the congress party is growing impatient by-day waiting for RG to finally take over, the last hope of a dynasty worshipping party looking for magical turnaround. Something tells that RG is fully aware that leading this democracy is no body's legacy - no body's birthright, it is no dynastic gift. Rather, it is a job that is earned by merit, dedication, commitment, intelligence, vision, planning, and execution of that plan, to bring upon welfare to every citizen.
RG has not proved his mettle yet; but there certainly is no doubt that he displays ‘promise of tomorrow’, a tomorrow which does not seem far now. Only a litmus test of time will prove is this ‘promise’ for real or just a media-massaged-propagated agenda of a desperate political party!
Most notable and applaud able is his endeavor to bring upon a quiet revolution of youth empowerment at the grassroots levels. His experiment is aimed at ensuring that future leaders of the Congress are product of Youth Congress and have gone through the democratization process under which five-member panchayat committees will directly vote for Assembly and Lok Sabha candidates and state Youth Congress. The next major step is mandating that no candidate under 35 will be given a ticket for election if he is not in Youth Congress.
RG scores heavily on clean public image, education, vision, cause and commitment, charisma, and intelligence. How much of it transforms to a successful leader is yet to be seen. The nation is waiting and hoping.

ReplyDeletewell i think that the only thing in favor of rahul gandhi is that he is young (if you call 40 young)and educated, apart from that he as MP has not done anything remarkable yet..... every election priyanka's presence overshadows his....he get votes frm his constituency because of his gandhi tag..... so pmship seems far right now.
ReplyDeleteBorn with a golden spoon, the man is working hard to prove himself as a good candidate for future PM. Whether its a planned strategy with some other objectives in shadows as well or he's really sincerely trying to change India and bring it on right track, nobody can tell but only TIME.

ReplyDeleteHe seems one last hope among the current Political situation, In absence of a Strong Opposition (BJP dismantled in its own forte) the role of governing party becomes even more challenging from the perspective of a common man. True that he has not done anything remarkable but the way he is thinking a turnaround in Indian Youth & Political System is a light in the tunnel
